Philosophy

I strongly believe in the duality of science and spirituality. They work together: we are spiritual beings having a human experience. So, when it comes to reiki, this means that we aren’t exempt from the things that come with the human experience.

As human beings, our health is made up of several components: mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual. We can’t neglect any single one of these components. This means to continue taking our vitamins, for example.

One day, I’d like to see reiki practitioners included in a collaborative approach to healthcare. We all bring something unique to the table, and by working together we ensure that the entirety of a person is being cared for.

Root Healing

While the seeds for a reiki business were planted after I completed my initial training, it wasn’t until after completing my reiki mastery program, and receiving a push from my cousin that I finally decided to pursue this.

It was also in speaking with her that the name Root Healing was born. I had wanted to do something with my last name, Toor, and she quickly mentioned that my last name backwards was root, and so Root Healing was born.

As such, I focus my reiki practice on the root chakra, which is responsible for keeping us grounded, but also safe and secure.

As a woman, and being the first child born of immigrant parents, in Canada, I understand the many struggles that we face. Oftentimes, we become emotional support for one or both parents, and our own emotional needs get neglected. As a society, in my case in the Indian community, we also often lack a healthy model of masculinity. This, on top of, any childhood traumas can lead us to function in survival mode.

Survival mode is linked to having an unbalanced root chakra

Survival mode is linked to having an unbalanced root chakra, which is responsible for our basic needs and our stability and security. These characteristics of the root chakra are linked to masculine energy. So, when we begin our healing journey we must begin with this chakra. This will root us into our foundation, and really allow us to grow in a healthy manner.

Our feminine (yin) energy directly affects our masucilne (yang) energy. So, if we don’t feel secure in ourselves and in our masculine energy, we will lack the trust in ourselves to open up to our feminine energy. If we aren’t aware of this dynamic within us, it will often play out in our relationships as they will mirror the healing we need to do.

In my practice, I use reiki as my main healing modality. This helps us connect with our bodies, and identify the root of our trauma. From there, we are able to work through our traumas and step out of survival mode. By doing this, we work on our root chakra and foster a strong foundation for ourselves. After this, it will be easier to lean into and feel safe in our feminine energy. Once we have mastered this balance within ourselves, we will notice big shifts within our relationships.
