Guided Universal

Life - Force Energy

History of Reiki

Reiki is a Japanese form of energy medicine that was founded by Dr. Mikao Usui in 1922. Prior to this, energy healing existed; however, healers would absorb the negative energy or illness that was coming from the other person. Usui’s discovery let healers work with energy, reiki, which was independent of their own.

The Japanese character “Rei” stands for universal life and “Ki” means Life-Force energy, which surrounds us and is also present within us. Together Rei-ki has been defined as “Guided Universal Life-Force energy,” or healing that is spiritually guided. Even though Ki is present within us, we must still be attuned to Reiki by a Reiki Master.

Giving Reiki

Reiki is given by way of the hands, and healing focuses primarily on the seven chakras: root, sacral, solar plexus, heart, throat, third eye, and crown. We can also use reiki to heal specific body parts.

Lastly, a unique characteristic of reiki is that it can be given from a distance as it transcends time and place.
